Safety Parameters

Specially trained personnel screen all tissue donors for HIV, hepatitis, IV drug use and sexually transmitted and other transmissible diseases. The New York Organ Donor Network adheres to regulations from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) when screening tissue donors.

In addition, all tissues are cultured before and after processing to eliminate tissues that may have bacterial contamination.
