What Are Tissues?

Each year, hundreds of thousands of Americans who experience serious illness and injury are returned to healthy, productive lives through the transplantation of donated tissues. These tissues include corneas, skin, heart valves, bone, ligaments, veins, and arteries, and are donated from individuals who have experienced cardiac death or brain death.
