You May be Contacted to Consent to Donation

Through a process established by the 1998 Routine Referral Law, many families are contacted about organ and tissue donation after the death of a loved one in a hospital. Through this process, families in the Greater New York metropolitan area receive information about donation from trained New York Organ Donor Network staff.
When they are contacted, families have the opportunity to make informed decisions (or informed consent) about donation. That's why it is so important to have an understanding of tissue donation options before such a situation should arise.
