Deceased Organ Donors:
In 2005, there were 261 deceased organ donors in the Greater New York metropolitan area.
- In 2005, the New York Organ Donor Network received 1,790 hospital referrals for organ donation.
- From all referrals, 592 cases were medically suitable for organ donation and 45 were consented organ donors that could not be recovered.
- Of the 306 families that consented to organ donation, 261 became donors.
- The consent rate of those families of patients who were approached for organ donation in the Greater New York metropolitan area in 2005 was 48% (Compared to 55% in the U.S.)

In 2005, a total of 684 organs were transplanted from organs recovered from deceased donors in the Greater New York metropolitan area:
In 2005, a total of 627 people received organ transplants with organs received from deceased donors in the Greater New York metropolitan area.
