New York, N.Y – December 9, 2007 - The board of the New York Organ Donor Network notes with deep sadness the passing of Flora Solarz on December 8. Together with the board of the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network/ United Network for Organ Sharing (OPTN/UNOS), we mourn the loss of a dedicated advocate of organ donation. A lung transplant recipient of more than 12 years, Ms. Solarz served as a member of the board of directors and on several committees of these two organizations. We will miss her love of life, professionalism, determination, and most of all, her abiding friendship.
