ASSOCIATION OF ORGAN PROCUREMENT ORGANIZATIONS HONORS NEW YORK ORGAN DONOR NETWORK'S ELAINE BERG WITH PRESIDENT'S AWARD
Chicago , June 17, 2004 - At its annual meeting in Chicago on June 16, the Association of Organ Procurement Organizations (AOPO) presented its President's Award to Elaine Berg, New York Organ Donor Network president and CEO.
Paul Schwab, AOPO executive director, explained: “The AOPO President's Award is presented annually by the outgoing AOPO president to one or more individuals that he or she believes deserving of special acknowledgement and appreciation for major contributions to the work and objectives of AOPO.”
This year, outgoing president Helen Leslie recognized Ms. Berg for her special accomplishments with the “Donate Life” branding initiative. She was also recognized for her outstanding involvement with the American College of Healthcare Executives regarding organ donation awareness and promotion; her role with the Organ Breakthrough Collaborative as part of the AOPO Hospital Task Force; and her strong support for association initiatives generally.
Ms. Leslie also referenced Ms. Berg's recent involvement as a board member of the Coalition on Donation.
