New Medical Board Appointments at the New York Organ Donor Network

New York, NY, March 2, 2004: The following new appointments to the New York Organ Donor Network's medical board for 2004-2005 have been announced:

Enver Akalin, M.D., the assistant professor of transplant, and a nephrologist at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Manhattan .

Roberta Billman, R.N., M.S, C.N.N., C.C.T.C., the senior transplant coordinator at The Rogosin Institute Transplantation Center in Manhattan .

Fred M. Kimmelstiel, M.D., F.A.C.S., a General Surgeon at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital in Manhattan .

Richard Lewis, M.D., professor of urology and clinical director of the Renal Transplantation Program at Stony Brook Hospital on Long Island .

William Lynch, M.P.A., the vice-president of regulatory and professional affairs at Medisys Health Network, Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in Queens, New York .

Anita L. Principe, administrative director of transplant services at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, New York, and a former member of the Donor Network board of directors.

William T. Stubenbord, M.D., the chief of the division of transplantation at New York Presbyterian Hospital, New York Weill Cornell Campus in Manhattan, and a former president and member of the Donor Network board of directors.

Hillel Tobias, M.D., Ph.D., F.A.C.S., clinical professor at the Concorde Medical Group in Manhattan.

James Zisfein, M.D., associate professor of clinical neurology at New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York.

The medical board of the New York Organ Donor Network provides recommendations to the board of directors regarding the development and oversight of our medical policy, practices and procedures. Among other issues, recommendations are made concerning organ and tissue recovery, donor suitability, donor management, quality management, the distribution and allocation of organs, and research.
