TRUE STORY:
A LIVER TRANSPLANT SAVED YOUNG GREGORY'S LIFE

Gregory Denizard Jr. turned two on November 15, 2008. But a year earlier, the life of the Yonkers, NY resident hung in the balance. Only a new liver would save his life.

After being placed on the organ transplant waiting list in December 2007, Gregory's condition began to deteriorate to such an extent that his father, Gregory Sr., began testing to see whether he could be a living donor.

Fortunately, just one month after being listed, Gregory received a liver transplant on January 16, 2008 because of the generosity of an anonymous donor and the family of that deceased individual. The transplant took place at Westchester Medical Center, and the surgeon was Dr. Manuel Rodriguez who is also a member of the New York Organ Donor Network's medical advisory board.

Gregory Jr. is a healthy, active and inquisitive little boy, and much loved by a grateful Denizard family-his dad, Gregory Sr. who had hoped he might be the liver donor; his mom, Michelle, and his older sister, Kayla.

Not everyone is as fortunate as Gregory nor his family. For the more than 1,000 patients waiting for organ transplants, organ donors are their only hope. Please decide to give the gift of life. Enroll now in the New York State Donate Life Registry.
