This quilt square was created in honor of my father-in-law, Andrew J. Viola, better known as “PaBa” to his beloved grandchildren, Kina and Bryce. In the center of the square is the last photograph taken of him. With my mother-in-law, Ruth and my children – all wearing Christmas cracker hats. Dad’s last Christmas, 2002, was a joyous one. Never did he have so much enthusiasm or as many plans and projects for the New Year to come. Sadly, he died in January, unexpectedly. But the greatest comfort is that he was still in the middle of enjoying his life when he left us. The photograph is surrounded by flowers because Dad loved his garden and all growing things.
We’ll always love you, PaBa! |
