Throughout Nicole's life she was always laughing, even when circumstances were very difficult for her, she found a way to see joy in life and the good in others. It was as if she knew that her life would be short and she had little time to accomplish all that she wanted to achieve. She was very happy little girl, loved all holidays and birthdays. She would tell your four months in advance that her birthday was coming soon and no matter how old she was-that anticipation never ceased. Nicole graduated from college with a degree in Elementary Education. She loved children and they responded to her kindness. An eight-month marriage resulted in the birth of a lovely little boy. Even though it was a struggle to raise her son Jordan as a single mom, she was a wonderful mommy. Nicole was our only child and we were very close and loving family; we all helped care for our little boy.
During the last two years of Nicole's life we had the privilege of working for the same company as Nicole. We were able to spend breaks and lunch hours together. It was a blessing that I will always be thankful for.
Nicole and Jordan, who was nearly five years old, were just a few minutes from our home when a driver under the influence of alcohol and drugs hit their car head on. Jordan and his mommy spoke to each other and to witnesses before she lost consciousness. Jordan not only lost his mommy on that horrific night but, six days after her funeral he had to leave us, the only family he knew, as well. Even though he was never a part of his life, the court awarded Jordan to the biological father. My husband and I lost everything; our only child and our only grandchild. Nicole decided as a teenager to become an organ donor so others could live. It was so like her.
