Always in Our Hearts
The concept for this patch was a collective family decision. The black fabric background were Michael's actual soccer shorts with the gold, white and red stars representing goals, assists and shootouts achieved for his team while he played striker for 9 years and wore number 9.
The photograph was taken during 9/99 with his daughter Lily at a local fair. Musical fabric was selected for his love of music and surrounds the heart shaped photo of Michael and Lily.
The 10 hearts were placed to represent his family members who will miss him forever. Finally, the butterfly is placed to recognize the hope his life has given to others through his final gift of organ and tissue donation.
