LOUIS N. ALBERSE
2-28-39 - 4-4-98
My reasons for what is on the quilt square and the colors that were used are based on my husband's life. Since my husband loved the beach and he will always be our star are the reasons for the starfish. He was called "The Bear" by my children, nieces and nephews. He liked the color red and was a blood donor for many years. At the blood bank they gave out red droplet pins.

As far as how I felt when making the square, there were so many feelings which came over me that I can't explain all of them. The one thing which was important to my husband was to be an organ donor. Due to certain circumstances, we were only able to donate his tissue, bone and eyes. To honor his wish and to let others know about organ and tissue donors I honored his request.

My husband was a man who loved to give. I hope he helped many and maybe because of this quilt others may do the same. Give the "Gift of life, freedom of pain and the ability to see."
