SILVINO GUZMAN
9-28-41 - 5-3-97
Silvino Guzman, my father loved many things. Horses, beer, food, family and laughter are just a few of those things. He also loved life. Only after his death did I realize what his point was. If you are not enjoying your life, then it's a waste.

My father would say, "A lot of people say they'll travel when they retire. What's the point? You're too old to leave the hotel. People say they'll get a boat when they retire. Why? Then you're too old to lift the fish into the boat. I've traveled, owned a boat, a Cadillac and a horse. I did it all".

Many people think you have to plan for your future. There's a great deal of logic in that statement. But if you only live for the future, you are living for a moment that will never come. There is only now. Live for the moment. Live for the smiles, laughter and love you get right now. Live for today.

My father died of a heart attack at age 55. He was definitely too young.
