Just one glance at this quilt square and a person who was a total stranger to Barrett would have a good idea who he was. He was a New Yorker. He loved football (especially the 49ers), he loved music (he attended Woodstock'94) and he loved hot and spicy foods. The hat buttons are hand painted copies of his two favorite hats. But the square's meaning goes beyond that. Barrett was a very unique and bright person. He brought light into the lives of all who knew and loved him. He took everyone by the heart. The many pieces of material and the bright colors show the world a little piece of Barrett's life.
