Having so many lovely memories of Doris, it was a pleasure to plan a square for the memory quilt. As I had our mother living with me, Doris came to visit us each summer and I have many pleasant memories of our get-togethers with other members of the family.
She brought me gifts from countries she and her husband visited, while he lived. Also through the years she provided me with kitchen gadgets, which I still use almost daily in fond preparation.
She was a very generous and sympathetic person, showing sympathy for those with problems. In spite of increasing crippling due to rheumatoid arthritis and the effects of drug reactions, she never complained and continued to volunteer at the soup kitchens of New York after her nursing career ended. |
