Tissue Success Rates
Procedures using bone and tissue have very high success rates.
Tissue transplants are not subject to rejection as sometimes happens in organ transplantation. So tissue transplants do not require life-long drug therapies. (Medications such as Cyclosporine have vastly reduced the incidence of rejection in organ transplants.)
Some examples of successful tissue transplants:
- Donated heart valves grow with young patients, so that future valve replacement surgeries may be avoided.
- Orthopedic tissue applications prevent amputation and may even speed healing of injuries.
- Veins grafts restore impaired blood circulation.
