Transplant Support Organization (TSO) was founded in 1997 by transplant recipients and a transplant coordinator. Based in Westchester County, the overall goals of the organization are clearly outlined in TSO's mission statement.

To help save lives by:

Transplants Save Lives (TSL)
Transplants Save Lives (TSL) is a not-for-profit organization primarily serving residents of Rockland and Orange Counties in New York. TSL brings recipients, candidates, living donors and their families together to help them cope with the ongoing personal and psychological needs. TSL delivers a structure for support and education, and provides a focus on donor awareness programs within the community.

Monthly meetings are held at which speakers provide current information about transplant-related topics, and participants have an opportunity to network with others who have had similar experiences. Recipients who have undergone transplant surgery provide one-on-one counseling and offer a special understanding for candidates and other recipients.

TSL works closely with directors of organ transplantation at local hospitals, organ procurement groups, pharmaceutical companies, and not-for-profit organizations with a similar mission to provide speakers, information and events, that will encourage organ and tissue donation. TSL actively works to develop opportunities for our members to share the joy of new life, by bonding together and reaching out to others.

TRIO (Transplant Recipients International Organization) of Long Island
The Long Island Chapter of Transplant Recipients International Organization was founded in 1986 by liver recipient Anne Treffeisen and her husband Don following their experiences. During their ordeal they had no one to share concerns and experiences with and were determined to help those who came after them. LI TRIO currently has more than 300 members and 450 interested individuals on their mailing list. One of the main activities is a monthly meeting where speakers in the field of transplantation make presentations and answer questions from the membership. This forum also provides an opportunity for members to meet and share their concerns. Aside from the monthly meetings, LI TRIO celebrates with an annual Holiday Party in December and a "Re-Birthday Party" in February. Its most important event is the Annual Donor Rose Garden Rededication Ceremony conducted with our area's Organ Procurement Organization (OPO), New York Organ Donor Network. This moving ceremony takes place with the assistance of the Nassau County Department of Parks at the Rose Garden in Eisenhower Park honoring donor families. The Rose Garden itself is maintained by TRIO volunteers, again with cooperation of the Parks Dept. Another awareness group is the "TRIO Singers" who perform the National Anthem and "God Bless America" at various public events.
