Hospital and Family Services

The Hospital and Family Services Department provides services to the more than 100 hospitals in the New York Organ Donor Network's region.

A Hospital Services Specialist is assigned to each hospital and works as their primary liaison to assist them in complying with all state and federal regulations and accreditation requirements for organ and tissue donation. In addition, many hospitals are assigned Family Service Coordinators, who are based at the hospitals and work closely with families of those who may become donors.

The department offers educational programs for nurses, physicians and allied health care professionals. As an American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN) continuing education provider, programs are tailored to meet the specific needs of the hospital.
