Linda Bowes, Director of Education and Training: Ms. Bowes has extensive experience in the field of organ and tissue donation, as well as in health care marketing. Prior to joining the New York Organ Donor Network, she held the position of Hospital Services Manager for the New Jersey Organ and Tissue Sharing Network.

Ms. Bowes started in 1996 at the New York Organ Donor Network as Director of Hospital Services. In 2003 her role was expanded to include consent for donation. In 2005, Ms. Bowes also took on donor family services. Her title changed to Director of Hospital and Family Services.

Ms. Bowes was named Director of Education and Training in January 2012. Her primary responsibility is the development and implementation of all educational programs for the organization. It includes the identification of key learning opportunities for departments, individuals and external customers that meets Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) , Association of Organ Procurement Organization (AOPO), Department of Health (DOH) and American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB) training regulations.

Helen Christensen, Director of Hospital Services

Ms. Christensen has more than 17 years experience in the organ donation field and has built a nationwide reputation for enhancing organ donation.

From July 1994 until joining the New York Organ Donor Network in January 2011 as Director of Clinical Services, Ms. Christensen held various positions at the California Transplant Donor Network (CTDN), the organ procurement organization that is based in Oakland, California.

Ms. Christenen was named Director of Hospital Services in January 2012. She and her staff service the more than 90 hospitals in the Donor Network's service area. They provide research and information for health care professionals, as well as assist hospitals in adhering to all applicable state and federal laws and regulations regarding donation.

Anthony Delli Carpini, Director of Finance

Mr. Delli Carpini joined the New York Organ Donor Network on May 2, 1989 as Assistant Business Manager. In 2001, he was employed as Accounting Manager, and he was promoted to his current position in June 2009.

At the time that Mr. Delli Carpini joined the staff of the organization, the New York Organ Donor Network was known as the New York Regional Transplant Program (NYRTP).

Prior to joining NYRTP, Mr. Delli Carpini spent three years as a Staff Accountant at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, after being employed from 1983 to 1989 as a Financial Representative at Citigroup.

Jeff Lewis, Director of Donor Referral and Recovery Services

Mr. Lewis has led the Donor Network's referral and recovery operations since December 2006, after having served as a Clinical Manager for a decade. 

Before he came to the Donor Network, Mr. Lewis worked as a nurse in many different settings, including the neurosurgical intensive care unit at the University Hospital of Cleveland; in the open heart unit at the Cleveland Clinic; and in the trauma and burn units at the University of Washington.

Mr. Lewis also worked for seven years at LifeCenter Northwest, the organ procurement organization in Seattle.

Michele Clayton Lucas, Director of Human Resources

Ms. Clayton Lucas, who oversees the New York Organ Donor Network's human resources department, was appointed to the position in May 2000.

Before joining the Donor Network, Ms. Clayton Lucas was employed at NewYork Presbyterian Hospital as a Business and Financial Administrator.

Prior to that, she held the position of Business Manager at the same institution.

Julia Rivera, Director of Communications

Ms. Rivera is responsible for developing and implementing a variety of public education campaigns to develop public understanding about the importance of organ and tissue donation in the greater New York metropolitan area.

Ms. Rivera has more than 36 years experience in administration and management of human service systems, and has held several executive positions in government, non-profit community organizations, and academic institutions.

Prior to her work at the Donor Network, Ms. Rivera was the Associate Executive Director for Public Relations at Lincoln Medical Center in the Bronx.

Waheed Tajik, Director of Quality Assurance and Perfomance Improvement

Mr. Tajik is responsible for compliance, quality assurance and best practice improvement implementation at the Donor Network.

Mr. Tajik joined the organization in September 2007 from the Mary Manning Walsh Home in New York where, as the Director of Quality Management, he acted as liaison between the Catholic Health Care System Corporate Board and the facility.

Mr. Tajik has held educational positions at various academic institutions and has also taught Standards of Care at professional agencies.
